    Contract & IP law

The aim of this course is to introduce students to different contracts used by companies in the context of their activities abroad. Contract & legal risk management
    30H - 5 ECTS More
This course aims at providing a first approach to the legal provisions that govern commercial activities carried out by a company in an international context.
The lessons taught are intended to prevent future managers, faced with the ever shifting world of international affairs, from making mistakes that are seriously detrimental to their business.
As such, the courses taught will aim at raising awareness of the specific legal rules related to the establishment of international contractual relations as well as the tax and customs requirements associated with them.
    CSR & Business ethics
    30H - 5 ECTS More
The increasing permeability between the political and economic spheres reinforces the interest of studying the ability of companies to voluntarily assume environmental and social commitments. More recently, a broad consensus seems to have emerged on the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), with increased public pressure to appear "environmentally friendly" and "socially responsible". But what is the exact meaning of these expressions? A careful study of different CSR strategies will raise many fundamental disagreements about their meaning. To the extent that these disagreements are irreconcilable, choices should be made among the different CSR options. This course proposes to provide the theoretical and practical keys to make such choices knowingly. Emphasis will be placed on the trade-offs that must be made when implementing CSR programs as well as on the theoretical and practical issues of the debates that frame these compromises.
As in everyday life, in business too, the ethical dimension is unavoidable. Can we do business with a person who is considered immoral, or with someone who adopts a code of conduct that is incompatible with ours? Is everything allowed in business? Not only ethical questions are unavoidable in the choices of an entrepreneur or manager, but they can even prove essential when it comes to making decisions in gray areas, characterized by ambiguous laws or customs. or unacceptable. Should we transgress the law if it is immoral? Should we take risks by producing a technology whose effects we do not know? The entrepreneurial choice often results in genuine ethical dilemmas. Is it immoral to sell a defective product or hide manufacturing defects? Is immorality necessarily professional misconduct? Is the boundary between privacy and the business world permeable?
It is to help each student to understand and justify his answer to all these questions that this course proposes to explain the different normative parameters that are at stake. Briefly speaking, this course will provide students with glasses tailor-made ethics to be able to orient oneself in the business world.

How to turn your business idea into a business model
    30H - 5 ECTS More

This course pursues a twofold objective:

    (1) raise awareness among students of the personal implications related to entrepreneurship. Experience shows that aspects related to the coherence between man and project are too often overlooked with regard to those relating to the project - market consistency.

    2) offer students the tools needed for the construction of a Business Model (BM). The project managers must be able to precisely describe the BM for their future company. It is indeed by the latter that a global vision of the activity will take shape and that the individual demonstrates a mastery of how it will create value.

Forming & managing global & virtual teams
    30H - 5 ECTS More
Information and communication technologies drive globalization and have radically changed the organization of work structures within organizations. The organizations have responded by progressively shifting from traditional co-located teams to global virtual teams (GVTs) (Webster and Wong, 2008).  GVTs are not constrained by traditional geographic and time boundaries and can offer many advantages if properly managed. How to use effectively GVTs  became an indispensable prerequisite to implementing global strategies of global companies.

This new phenomenon entails several important repercussions for management theories regarding the boundaries of the firm, principal-agent relationships, organizational learning, appropriability and social networks, among others. The growing importance of GVTs is also affecting the contents of the business curriculum, as many universities and business schools are implementing activities to teach and train students how to effectively work in this type of teams and how to cope with challenges mentioned above (Taras et al. 2013). As the crucial role of GVTs is only expected to grow more in the years to come, we encourage scholars to examine GVTs from different theoretical perspectives and empirical approaches in order to achieve implications relevant both for academics and practitioners.
This course aims at training students how to effectively work in a GVT, understanding what aspects affect the behavior and performance of GVTs, and how can global companies benefit from the several potential advantages that a smart management of this kind of team may provide?
